Virtual Lecture & Workshop Q&A

Are Virtual Lectures or Workshops the same fee as in-person?
Yes, the fees are the same. I have developed new course material, slide shows, video content, invested in photo equipment, digital skills and a Zoom subscription to ensure superior quality and content during events.

Can two Guilds share a Virtual Lecture or Workshop for one fee?
This may be open for negotiation on the contract if both Guilds are very small, otherwise please do not share the link with anyone except your Guild Members.

Which Virtual platform are you familiar with?
I have extensive experience using Zoom. If your group is using a program other than Zoom, I may need a test session 2-3 days before the event.

Does our Guild or Group need to purchase a Zoom account?
No, I have my own Zoom Pro account for up to 100 Members and can easily set it up for your Guild during a Lecture and/or Workshop.

When is the Fee due?
Lecture and/or Workshop fees are due within 7 days following the event.

Can we record your Virtual Lecture or Workshop?
No, at this time, I don’t allow any recordings.

A Virtual Lecture or Workshop isn’t the same as being in person, so why should we book one?
No, It isn’t the same, but in many ways it’s better. If you haven’t been to a virtual Lecture or Workshop, you might be surprised. Everyone has a front row seat and can participate in a comfy manner without going out in the dark/heat/cold/distance.  People are really enjoying the opportunity to connect with their friends again.
  • During my Lecture, I present a slide show with close up shots of my work, hold up my little quilts so you can see how small they are!
  • During the Workshop, I make sure everyone is engaged and learning by asking for questions after each segment of teaching.  I stay present the entire time and can work one-on-one as needed. My equipment allows me to show you up-close details of every step.

How do we prepare in advance for a Virtual Lecture or a Workshop?
Once the contract is signed, I will email you my bio and photos for advertising the event in your newsletter and/or website.  You would email the event link to your members a few days before the event.  If using a program other than Zoom, I may need a test session 2-3 days before the event.

What happens during the Virtual Lecture or Workshop?
I would need to log on at least 20 minutes before the meeting starts for a tech test and be added as a Co-Host when possible so I am able to share my screen.
  • During the event, either myself or the Host will unmute members mics as needed. It’s so easy to forget that your mic is still on!  Members are encouraged to use the built-in reactions to “Clap Hands” or give a “Thumbs Up”. Head nodding and smiles help too!
  • Please assign a Member to monitor any “Chat” questions I may miss and share them with me during the Q&A time.
  • Members ask questions in “Chat” or use the built-in feature and “Raise Hand”.  Mics will be un-muted by myself or Chat Monitor as questions come up.
  • At the conclusion of the Lecture or each segment of the Workshop, I will be happy to have participants un-mute themselves for additional questions/comments.
  • Workshop Attendees are required to purchase the pattern (either Paper or Download) on my Website prior to the class starting.  Exception:  The Program Chair can attend the Workshop without a pattern purchase. Please let me know in advance and I will email them a free pattern.
  • Workshops are limited to 23 Participants and 1 Program Chair, 24 Total.

What if our group is smaller and can’t commit to a large Workshop?
I can host a Workshop for you. Once a date is scheduled, quilters are invited to register for the 6-hour workshop on my website and pay a $45 fee (which includes a PDF pattern download). There is no other cost to the Guild or Group.  I will email the attendees a Zoom link and PDF pattern after they register. The minimum is 6 people so this is a great option for smaller Guilds and Groups.

Is Zoom hard to learn/use?
It is actually very easy once you try it! There are some great tutorials on Zoom: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  I am looking forward to presenting at your Guild!
